  • Mission Statement

Chyten's mission is to offer high quality educational services, to develop and implement effective strategic tools to maximize tests scores and grades and to make a positive and profound difference in students' lives

  • Historical Overview

Neil Chyten founded his company as a one man operation, and ran it as such for over 12 years. It is hard to contain a maverick, however. In total, Chyten now has 29 education centers, and of those 22 are franchises. As of 2009, Chyten Educational Services is proud to be present on the West Coast, with centers in CA and OR. In addition, Chyten expanded into two boroughs of NYC and several close suburbs. This gives Chyten a presence in AZ, CA, CT, MA, MD, NY, NJ, NC, OR and PA.

In 2008, Chyten revealed the Magnostic report, a comprehensive SAT diagnostic unparalleled by the competition. The RANDD Reading and Study Skills program was also unveiled.

In 2007, in response to a growing trend toward ACT as an alternative to SAT, Chyten designed the nation's first ACT vs SAT Comparison Diagnostic Test. It also announced the publication of "Mastering the ACT." Summer 2008, Chyten opened eight more franchises, bringing its total number of franchises to 14 and total stores to 19.

Earlier in 2007, Chyten opened its first four franchises; two in Massachusetts, one in New York and one in Maryland. Later that year, Chyten opened its 5th franchise, in New Canaan, Connecticut.

In 2006, Neil had a chance meeting with Minuteman Press President Robert Titus. The two of them discussed a possible synergy between their two companies. Later that year, they signed an agreement that would make Minuteman Press the exclusive national sales agent for Chyten franchises.

In the winter of 2005 Chyten opened his latest center in Neil's hometown of Westwood, Massachusetts.

In January 2004, Chyten grew to such an extent that Neil gives up tutoring himself to run the business full time.

In 2002 Chyten opened its third tutoring center in Lexington, Massachusetts.

In the summer 2001 Neil extended the reach of the company from Newton into neighboring Wellesley.

In 1999, Neil, by this time a very well-respected tutor with a wealth of experience, imparted his ideas on test preparation and teaching excellence to an expanded group of experienced tutors in order to reach a greater number of students. He opens the first Chyten Education Center in Newton, Massachusetts, where he grew up and attended school.

In 1996, convinced of the need for a personal, one-to-one approach to tutoring, Neil hires a small number of hand-picked, highly-experienced tutors whom he trains to offer his time-tested strategies.

In 1984, Neil Chyten incorporated his business under the name of "College Study Seminars". During this time, he develops innovative, insightful strategies for learning how to learn and standardized test taking. Among his publications are the "RANDD Reading and Study Skills Program," and his SAT Manual, "Mastering the SAT".
