SSAT
The Secondary School Admissions Test is approximately two-and-a-half hours in duration. It has two levels: lower (for students currently in grades 5-7) and upper (for students currently in grades 8-11). Typically, the SSAT is favored over ISEE by private schools in admitting students into upper grade levels. It combines multiple choice questions with a non-scored (but very important) written essay. There are four multiple choice sections, including a 40-minute Reading section (7 reading passages), a 30-minute Verbal section (analogies and synonyms) and two 25-minute Math (also called Quantitative) sections.
Chyten helps students increase their scores to their highest possible level by giving them the skills they need to read and calculate effectively and efficiently, to improve their vocabulary through etymology and categorization, and by teaching them strategies to increase their odds of making accurate educated guesses. Unlike other programs, Chyten's SSAT program encourages students NOT to leave questions unanswered, as this lowers the ceiling on their highest potential score. Even random guessing, which is a worst case scenario (like throwing a dart, blindfolded) is statistically identical to leaving questions blank. Eliminating one or more answers turns the odds in the favor of the student. At Chyten, we teach students to identify the most likely answers in a given situation, thus increases the student's odds even further.

ISEE
The Independent School Entrance Exam is approximately three hours in duration. It has three levels: lower (for students applying for admission to grades 5 or 6), middle (for students applying to grades 7 or 8) and upper (for students applying to grades 9-12). Typically, the ISEE is favored over SSAT by private schools in admitting students to lower grade levels. It combines multiple choice questions with a non-scored (but very important) written essay. There are four multiple choice sections, including a Reading Comprehension section, a Verbal Reasoning Section (with synonyms and sentence completions) a Quantitative Reasoning (higher order thinking in mathematics) and a Mathematics Achievement section.
Chyten helps students increase their scores to their highest possible level by giving them the skills they need to read and calculate effectively and efficiently, to improve their vocabulary through etymology and categorization, and by teaching them strategies to increase their odds of making accurate educated guesses. Unlike the SSAT, there is no penalty for incorrect answers.

State Standards Exams
Many states use standardized tests both as benchmarks and, in later grades, as a graduation criterion. Chyten's tutors are familiar with each state's tests, and help students earn remarkable scores through a combination of skills building exercise and test taking strategies.
