The SSAT score is one of the most critical aspects of the private school admission process, and Chyten has been successfully preparing local students for the test for more than 20 years. The SSAT is offered eight times per year, though most students take the test in November, December, or January. Students can take the SSAT as often as they'd like, and families can elect which scores are sent to prospective schools. It can be taken in a private setting (referred to a a flex test) once every six months.
The SSAT is administered by the Secondary School Admission Test Board. It has a Middle Level, previously called the Lower Level, for 5th through 7th graders (applying for admission to grades 6-8), and an Upper Level for 8th through 11th graders. The SSAT Board recently introduced an Elementary Level, for 3rd and 4th grade students (applying for admission to grades 4 and 5).
Chyten’s Recommendation Featuring Mastering the ISEE/SSAT:
Tutoring: 24-36 hours. If remediation is needed in math, reading, vocabulary or verbal skills, 36 hours is recommended. For non-native English speakers, more time for English language skills may be required.
Groups: 25 - 30 hours plus practice tests.
