Distinguished College Counselor

Target start date: Immediately

Required education : Master's (Doctorate Preferred)

For over 35 years Livius has been providing premium quality test preparation and college counseling programs to students around the country. With years of experience and proprietary curriculum with a focus on strategies, we set the bar high for students.

We are looking for a highly experienced college counselor who has a passion for serving students of all demographics and abilities. The college counselor will work 1-on-1 with highly motivated and academically skilled students seeking to achieve admission to the most prestigious universities.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage and guide students and their families through the college application process
  • Advise students regarding all aspects of college admissions: the college search, college application process, standardized testing options, scholarship search, athletic recruitment and financial aid
  • Guide students in utilizing Naviance, and other school-based software, and completing the Common Application and/or other application portals
  • Discuss financial aid and advise students on college affordability 
  • Meet individually with students and parents to explore and identify college options
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of colleges and universities
  • Guide students through the college application essay writing process
  • Advise students and parents on best practices for college visits

Qualifications :

  • Availability during weekday evenings and weekend days during the school year, and possibly daytime weekdays hours during the summer and school vacation weeks
  • Superior communication and client service skills
  • Exceptional writing ability
  • Master's degree required; doctorate degree strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of Naviance and/or other school-based college counseling software and the Common Application required
  • Experience in helping students with the FAFSA is desired
  • Five years or more of full-time college counseling experience is preferred
  • Reliable transportation

· Proficiency in both math and reading/writing curricula.

· Basic computer literacy.
