Do you have what it takes?
 
Responsibilities:
·      Complete SAT and/or ACT training program prior to teaching SAT or ACT test preparation
·      Provide engaging tutoring and test preparation services to students in grades 7-12
·      Maintain and update accurate online schedule on your calendar
·      Provide timely, clear and specific notes regarding tutoring sessions to students, parents, and administration staff using Chyten's online communication and scheduling platform
·      Teach Chyten test taking strategies for SAT, ACT, SSAT, and/or SSAT (Chyten training program completion required to teach test preparation)
·      Attend trainings and meetings as needed
·      Opportunities to teach small group learning courses
 
Qualifications:
·      Superior communication and customer service skills.
·      Bachelor's degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
·      One year or more of tutoring or teaching experience.
·      Two years or more of tutoring and teaching experience with small group classes.
·      Expertise in the subject area that you would like to tutor or teach.
·      Basic computer literacy.
·      Reliable transportation to travel to one or more of our centers in Newton, Wellesley and Lexington.

College Access Counselor

Target start date: 7/17-7/31

Required education : Bachelor's (Master's Preferred)

For over 30 years, Chyten Education has been providing premium quality test preparation and college counseling programs to students around the country. With years of experience and proprietary curriculum with a focus on strategies, we set the bar high for students.

We have renewed a school partnership to offer test prep and college counseling services to a charter high school in Malden, MA for the 2018-2019 academic year. There is also the possibility of additional partnerships as well.

We are looking for a college counselor who has a passion for serving students of all demographics and abilities. The college counselor will work on-site at the school multiple day each week. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, exceptional writer, enthusiastic educator, and an authentic person who is incredibly motivated to help every student tell their own unique story effectively to colleges.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage and guide students and their families through the college application process
  • Advise students regarding all aspects of college admissions: the college search, college application process, standardized testing options, scholarship search, athletic recruitment and financial aid
  • Guide students in utilizing Naviance and completing the Common Application and /or other application portals
  • Conduct financial aid workshops ?and advise students on college affordability 
  • Meet individually with students and parents to explore and identify college options
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of colleges and universities
  • Organize and conduct presentations for college information events
  • Host college visits at the high school

Qualifications :

  • Availability during school hours and possibly after-school some weekends to meet with students and families
  • Superior communication and customer service skills
  • Exceptional writing ability
  • Resourcefulness
  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of Naviance and the Common Application required
  • Experience in helping students with the FAFSA is strongly desired
  • One year or more of full-time college counseling experience is preferred
  • Reliable transportation
