ACT Tips & Strategies
In addition to eating well, exercising and getting enough sleep before the test, the Chyten team offers these tips and strategies to help you get the best possible ACT scores.
Chyten was founded to empower each student to take control of his or her academic achievement. Since 1984, we have helped thousands of students improve their SAT or ACT scores. More than 1,000 of them have achieved perfect scores, and at least 2,000 Chyten students have been accepted to Ivy League schools.
Take advantage of small-group prep classes or one-on-one private tutoring with our proprietary strategies and materials, actual conditions practice tests, and an SAT/ACT comparison test. One-on-one test preparation enables you to work with an experienced instructor who can tailor each and every lesson to meet your academic needs.
ACT Test Prep and Practice Tests
Consider ACT test prep and tutoring with Chyten to take advantage of our extensive industry knowledge. Our ACT students have increased their scores by 6 points on average.
Chyten private tutors guarantee that students get lessons customized to their learning styles, score goals, study habits and schedule, as well as on-the-spot feedback. If, for example, a student has mastered English grammar but needs to work on Algebra, the tutor will adjust the prep plan to maximize the student’s chances of test-day success.
For some students, the ACT format can be smooth sailing, while for others it can be a stressful experience. Take the time to learn whether the ACT is right for you by taking the Chyten Actual Conditions ACT Practice Test.
Our tutoring series and group classes offer multiple practice opportunities. We also offer an a la carte option for students who are not yet enrolled. Our academic directors can schedule your practice test in person or by phone.
ACT Test Tips and Strategies
Here are some of our proven tips, techniques and strategies that can help improve your overall performance on the ACT:
- Read the directions ahead of time.
During your Chyten test prep, review the directions for each of the sections on the ACT so you won’t have to waste precious test-taking time to read the directions.
- Answer what you know first.
You don’t have to answer the questions in order. Answer the easy questions first and come back to them later to answer any questions you skipped. If you get stuck, move on.
- It’s OK to guess.
Don’t know the right answer? Guess. Never leave a bubble blank. Try to eliminate answer choices you know are definitely wrong and then take your best guess.
- Don’t doodle on the answer sheet.
Be neat. A machine will score your test, so avoid making accidental marks on the answer sheet that could be mistaken for answers.
- Budget your time.
The ACT test is timed, so it’s important to be aware of the time. Use a watch to time yourself.
- Bring a watch or timer.
Some testing centers do not have accurate clocks. Bring your own stop watch or timer with you.
