Reasoning skills are the prime target of the SAT math exam. But, the questions are often written in a confusing manner. With help from your Chyten tutor, you will learn how to concentrate on the real question by learning to approach each one methodically.
There are two sections of this 58 question multiple choice test. The No-calculator section incorporates 20 questions and the remainder allow for the use of your calculator. You will have 25 minutes for the first 20 questions and then another 55 for the remaining 38. Overall, the SAT Math test is 80 minutes long.
SAT Writing & Language
Your knowledge of the written word will be evaluated via the SAT Writing and Language test. You will have 35 minutes to complete this section of the exam which consists of 44 multiple-choice questions.
In preparation for this part of the SAT, you should study punctuation, usage, and grammar rules. We suggest that you read newspaper articles, nonfiction essays, and various literature as a means of practicing what you know.
SAT Evidence-Based Reading
On the SAT Reading test, you will find one set of paired passages and four single passages. Each of the assigned texts will be 500-700 words long and will be followed by 10 or 11 multiple-choice questions. The total number of questions for this test is 52 and you will be given 65 minutes to complete this section.
This is both the first and the longest section of the SAT. In preparation, we suggest that you improve your reading speed to ensure that you can effectively balance your time between all passages to complete the 52 questions before time is called. It is also advisable to brush up on vocabulary, context clues, and word roots. Don’t forget to ensure you can read tables, charts, and graphs as well.
