We carefully select the most talented and experienced subject matter experts to provide each student with comprehensive, individualized instruction. We ensure that our tutors are not only experts in their field, with a Master’s degree or higher, but also skilled at connecting with students, understanding their individual needs and learning styles, and providing a customized approach.

About the SAT Reading Test

The new SAT Reading Test has four single passages and one set of paired passages. Each passage or pair is 500–750 words in length and is accompanied by 10 to 11 multiple-choice questions, for a total of 52 questions. Students have 65 minutes to finish this section of the test.

There are four distinct groupings (and several subgroupings) of question types that are best explained by the acronym VEGA:

  • V = Vocabulary (Vocabulary in Context)
  • E = Evidence (Command of Evidence)
  • G = Graphics (Graphical Analysis)
  • A = Analysis (Specific Content Analysis)

To prepare for this first and longest section of the SAT, we suggest working to speed up your reading to ensure that you’ll be able to balance your time between the five sections and get to all 52 questions before time runs out.

Brush up on your vocabulary and your ability to differentiate the meaning of words based on context clues. When you answer questions, be sure that you can point to evidence in each passage that your answer is correct. And make sure you know how to read charts, graphs and tables.

Take a Practice Test

Taking SAT practice tests under real conditions and having your results reviewed by a Chyten expert can help you analyze your progress while desensitizing you to the testing process.

Realistic practice tests enable you to understand what will be tested, get familiar with the structure and types of questions in each section, and learn how to best approach them. You will also be able to identify and fix your weaknesses in order to improve your score on the actual SAT.

Chyten has built a comprehensive and multifaceted curriculum that works in concert with the College Board’s and ACT’s official resources and practice exams so that our students are completely prepared for whatever testing challenges lay ahead.
