Why Take SAT Subject Tests?
SAT Subject Tests are 1-hour long, multiple-choice exams that focus on a single subject. They are generally given six times in any given school year, on the same dates and in the same test centers as the SAT test (except in March), but not all 20 tests are offered on every SAT date. You can take up to three Subject Tests on any test date, but you cannot take the SAT and an SAT Subject Test on the same day.
SAT Subject Tests provide colleges with another way to evaluate students’ college readiness. Some colleges recommend, or even require, Subject Test scores as part of the college application, so it’s important to check to see which Subject Tests a school requires before you decide whether or not to take them.
If you must take Subject Tests, choose those that are a good fit for you or those related to subjects at which you excel. They can be a great way to demonstrate your knowledge of a subject to admissions officers. Similar to the SAT, if you are not happy with your SAT Subject Test scores, you can always take the test again.
